The 36-year old six-time world champion Valentino Rossi is still at the top of the MotoGP rankings, but he aired his disappointment about his slow starts on the Saturdays of the six racing rounds this year.
So far his best starting grid is a P4 at the Circuit of the Americas last April for the 2015 Motorcycle Grand Prix of the Americas. He finished in the third position, losing to Honda's Marc Marquez and Andrea Dovizioso of Ducati.
Despite unsatisfying beginnings Rossi was able to nab six podium places this season. However the Italian racer would want to improve his chances and reinstated the importance of getting things right in qualifying.
"We have to improve a few little things. We have to be better at finding the right set up for the bike and we have to be faster so we can start the race from a better position," he said.
"The YZR-M1 is going really well; we are first and second in the Championship and the last few races of Jorge proved the bikes' competitiveness. We are close and we will work strongly to make it a nice weekend."
Rossi would also want to bounce back and further the gap between him and teammate Jorge Lorenzo, who is only six-points behind him in the world rankings.
"The form of Jorge is bad news for me," he was quoted by Autosport. "He is very fast. In the first part of the season, I was stronger, but now Jorge is coming back at an incredible pace. He is the only one who can ride at the maximum of the bike and take all the potential from the bike."
