Josip Drmic has completed his transfer to Borussia Monchengladbach. It is reported that the 22-year-old signed a four-year deal that costs around €10 million.
This is the third move by the Swiss international footballer in the past three years. He joined FC Nuremberg in 2013 where his 17 goals weren't enough to help his club avoid relegation.
Just last summer, Drmic accepted an offer to play in Bayer Leverkusen, but didn't manage to gain a regular spot, having started just five times the whole season.
The striker of the Switzerland national football team will be joining his compatriots Yann Sommer and Granit Xhaka at Gladbach whom he considers as friends.
"They are my friends. Of course I talked to them before making a decision. But now I hope to make new friends within the team."
Asked about his goals entering the club he answered, "I want to play as much as possible and be successful both on national and European level. It is great that the team qualified for the Champions League and has the opportunity to compete on the highest level with Europe's top team."
Lucien Favre's squad hopes that Drmic's arrival will fulfill the gap that Max Kruse left behind when he moved to Wolfsburg in May. Drmic seems to be agreeable to this with a positive attitude towards this recent development in his career.
"I am a quick striker, who likes to go deep but also want to take part in the passing combinations. And of course I want to score goals! But the main thing is to get along well with my teammates and that we are successful together."
