Ex-Liverpool striker John Aldridge claimed that the Reds still need to sign a proven striker this summer if they aim to make it in the top four.
Yesterday the club confirmed that they have signed Burnley forward Danny Ings and although Aldridge thought that he will do well, he believed that the club still need to invest more money up front.
"It's not happened for Mario Balotelli or Fabio Borini - Rickie Lambert is not getting any younger. They have been very conservative in their dealings and they still have a lot of money in the account ready to spend.
"You need a striker who guarantees 20 goals a season and they don't come cheap."
