Larry Brown has admitted that he wants the Philadelphia 76ers to hire Allen Iverson for a front office position. Brown thought that Iverson would be a "huge asset" for the Sixers and could help the team "judge talent." While this was just Brown speculating and hoping for the link between his former player and the Sixers to grow stronger, Iverson agrees with his former coach's thoughts.
Iverson has admitted that it clear, he's confident in his basketball knowledge.
“To me, I'm a basketball genius and I really believe that” Iverson said. “So, any capacity that I could help this franchise, that's what I'm going to do.”
While declaring himself "a basketball genius" may sound like grandiose thinking by Iverson, he may not be wrong. Iverson was a dynamic player the likes of which the league may never see again. He had his faults but he was one of the best scorers in the history of the NBA. Whether he could use his basketball mind to help the Sixers evaluate talent remains to be seen; but Iverson is probably right, he could help the franchise in some capacity.
