Liverpool striker Fabio Borini close to sealing Serie A return

Lazio are ready to step up interest in Liverpool striker Fabio Borini after their third-place Serie A finish ensured qualification to the Champions League.
Liverpool are keen to sell after the striker refused to join QPR and Sunderland last summer, and the 24-year-old is not in manager Brendan Rodgers' plans for next season.

Borini was born in Italy and began his career at Bologna, before moving to Chelsea in 2007, at the age of 16. He is currently back in his home country following the conclusion of the Premier League season and could be set for a permanent move to the country.

Lazio, under the stewardship of Stefano Pioli, enjoyed a successful campaign, finishing third in the Italian top flight.
The Biancocelesti finished ninth in the 2013/14 season, and amassed an impressive 13 more points this season compared to last.
Borini played 18 times for Liverpool this season - most of which cameo appearances from the bench - and managed just three starts in the Premier League.
